Warehouse tour at MG

Our Foodtogether Pop-up team got to have an inside look at the MG distribution centre last week. It was really interesting to see the huge scale of operation at the facility which is open 24 hours of almost every day! They have huge warehouses which are temperature controlled to maintain optimal quality and nutrients in the food, and we were especially amazed with the solar-powered banana ripening facility. Most produce is sorted, tagged and distributed on the same day, almost like a huge organism breathing in produce from the growers, and breathing out onto the delivery trucks. So much of the produce you see at the supermarket, grocer, and even at the local outdoor markets will have come through this facility. It is truly impressive!
