Membership Overview and Policies
The Hub aims to create a safe, inclusive, and accessible space for community connection, growth and collaboration.
The Gribblehirst Community Hub Trust is a registered charity, governed and administered by a volunteer Trust Board with the support of the Hub coordinator team.
Membership is in accordance with our Trust Deed.
Membership Benefits

Access: almost anytime access during opening hours via personal access token.

Facilities: access to Hub facilities and assets while on-site (kitchen, sewing machines, projector, board games, wi-fi).

E-bike: use of Hub e-bike (booking required).

Bookings: priority access to venue hire for personal or community use.

Trustee Eligibility: after 6 months, individual and primary members can stand as a trustee at the AGM

Support: assistance for climate action initiatives and community projects.​

​Members are encouraged to collaborate with the coordinator team and Trust Board to suggest and support events and activities, and assist in decision-making.
Annual Membership Fees
​
​
Fees are structured on a sliding scale to support different income levels.
​

Individual Membership - $60 to $120
Suitable for individuals who wish to access the Hub for casual use and take part in some group activities.
​​

Collective Membership (1 primary key holder) - $90 to $150
Suitable for a group of friends/family/housemates who wish to access the Hub for casual use. Up to 3 Secondary Keyholders may be added to this membership.​
​​

Community/Social Enterprise Group (1 primary key holder) - $120 to $240
Suitable for those facilitating groups at the Hub or booking the Hub for business use (e.g. paid workshops, classes). Secondary Keyholders may be added to this membership.​

Secondary Key Holder - $30
Suitable for those who wish to join as part of a Collective or Community Membership. NB. Secondary keyholders hold no voting rights at the AGM. ​

An access token fee of $20 per token applies to all Membership subscriptions, payable to the coordinator at the time of induction This fee is refundable at the end of membership when the access token is returned. This deposit is not included in the Membership Fees displayed above.

​​Membership fees pay for our utilities, maintenance, and operational costs. $10 from each membership fee goes into a fund to support subsidised memberships for those who may need it.
Subsidised fees may be available on application, and are subject to Trust Board approval.
Community/Social Enterprise memberships require Trust Board approval.
The Trust Board reserves the right to deny any membership application.
Voting rights at the AGM apply to Individual Members and Primary Members of Collective and Community/Social Enterprise Groups only.
Code of Conduct

All members and guests must abide by the Code of Conduct. Breaches of the code of conduct will be referred to the trustees. Serious or continued breaches may result in suspension or cancellation of Hub membership.

Behaviour
​
Behaviour and words while at the Hub need to reflect the principles of a creative, friendly and co-operative space and support sustainability, diversity, inclusion and openness.

Practice
​

Members will be issued with an access fob for the building. The access fob remains the property of the Hub and must be returned if membership ends.

The member must be present when their access fob is used.

Fobs are not to be used by non-members. Non-members are very welcome to use the Hub as guests of a member who is present.

After a visit to the Hub, the space must be left tidy and clean. There is a cleaning checklist located in the kitchen and near the front door.

Any hazards, damage or breakages must be reported to a coordinator or a trustee.

Hub tools and equipment (including kitchen equipment) must stay at the Hub so that other members can use them.

Alcohol is not allowed at the Hub except as an agreed part of an organised activity. No alcohol sales are allowed without a liquor licence. Please refer to the Hub’s alcohol policy below.

The last person to leave the Hub must turn off lights and heat pumps/air-conditioning and make sure all external windows and doors are closed and locked.

Health and safety

All members must tag their access fob at the door on arrival for health and safety reasons.

All members and guests must sign in and out on the tablet at the entrance with their purpose of visit.

There will be no smoking at the Hub. This includes the Hub building and the Commons.

No naked flames such as candles or lighters are allowed in the Hub building at any time (other than the gas stove).

The building exits and corridors must never be blocked.

Please comply with all signs and instructional manuals and undertake appropriate training before using equipment.

​Equipment and facilities at the Hub are intended for positive and educational purposes. Please be thoughtful about environmental impacts and potential hazards.

You are responsible for your own safety and belongings while at the Hub. Where your activity may create a hazard you are also responsible for the safety of others.

Alcohol Policy
​
When do you need an alcohol license?​

If a member wants to sell alcohol at an event at Gribblehirst Community Hub or open an event to the public, the member needs to apply for an alcohol special license for events.

If you need to apply for a special event license to serve alcohol at your event at the Hub, a booking request must be made at least a month in advance of the event. The request must include details of any requirement under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.
When you don't need an alcohol license

If a member is holding a private gathering at the Hub and it is not open to the public, alcohol can be supplied at the event without a license.
Whether or not a license is required, please note the following rules and guidelines that apply at all times where alcohol is planned to be served at The Hub.

The Hub reserves the right to not accept any booking requests that are made within one month of the event date for an event where alcohol is to be served.

​​All members making bookings at the Hub for events that require a special event license must apply to Auckland Council for the license at least 20 working days prior to the event date. It's important to note that a 'working day' doesn't include weekends, statutory holidays, or any day between 20 December and 15 January (inclusive).

The member must supply the Gribblehirst Community Hub trustees with a copy of any special event license issued for activities taking place at the Hub, at least one week prior to the event taking place. Also required is a copy of the nominated Duty Managers General Manager’s Certificate along with the full name and contact details of all nominated ‘Responsible Persons’.

A liquor ban is in place within Gribblehirst Park from 7 pm to 7 am daily. It is the member’s responsibility to ensure that no alcohol is served or consumed outside the venue or designated area within this time.

It is the member’s responsibility to check current guidelines and information about liquor licensing, and to comply with all alcohol requirements, restrictions, or guidelines.
Host Responsibilities
All events at the Hub where alcohol is served must adhere to the following host responsibilities:

The member making the booking is nominated to manage the conduct of the consumption of alcohol and must identify at least one other responsible adult for every 50 attendees.

The member shall have available for consumption on the premises, at all times when alcohol is being consumed, a reasonable range of non-alcoholic refreshments and low alcohol beverages, and food appropriate to the occasion.

Information regarding alternative forms of transport must be available for attendees.

Alcohol must not be served to visibly intoxicated persons
-
Drinking water is to be freely available.
