Matariki Open Mic

For the fourth year in a row, we have collaborated with Holding Space Aotearoa to ring in the Māori New Year with a open mic night and community meal. We had our biggest turnout this year with around 80 guests. It is such an honour that so many people chose to spend the evening with us.

The theme for this years celebration is Matariki Herenga Waka. A landing place for every boat. It reminds us that it is our differences that make our communities strong and vibrant; that there is space for everyone.

We are so grateful for each performer who shared their art with us, and to everyone who helped by preparing kai, washing dishes, arranging furniture, and greeting visitors. Thank you all.

We pay respect to all who have passed in the last year, as they join the stars in the great mantle of Ranginui.
